Lanny Vs. DinoMite
Lanny Vs. DinoMite is an upcoming 2D animated short subject, produced and distributed by J.T. Love Industries, directed by Jordan Tyler-Love. The story begins with a Timberwolf who lives it all easy on his rock in a desert preserve around an array of animals. At first, he is very comfortable, can hunt for animals, but with a little difficulty, but manages to capture and retrieve his prey. But when an unknown intruder, sets up camp, invading his territory in the preserve, it is up to Lanny to fight fire with fire! So to speak. Hark, there'seth an idea, Lanny starts to use them there strategies of DinoMite, courtesy of the DinoMite company! Good luck, kiddo!
Lanny Vs. DinoMite is set for release Spring 2022. But don't worry, the director has made sure to keep 2 metres apart during production, although while working from home!
This short will also be a nod to bringing back the nostalgic, glory days. For example, this cartoon is modernized but the style is based on both the MGM Tex Avery and the Chuck Jones Looney Tunes cartoons from the mid-to-late 40s and early 50s, right up to 1952.
Meet the Characters
Lanny
Alan Timberwolf, or simply Lanny, is the main protagonist of this picture. Although a predator, cannot speak and a regular coyote, he can not only hunt like a real wolf, but is very anthropomorphic, as he walks on two legs. It is only when he is hunting, or is looking out for prey, he walks on all fours. While he can be smart and predatory, he is sometimes naive, selfish, helpless, cunning, slow-witted and outnumbered, he also is brave, strong, defiant, ruthless and wise when things get out of hand.
He is a gray husky-coyote hybrid, which makes him more wolf than dog. His somewhat rabbit ears are similar to Bugs, rather than a wolf's ears.
Unlike other wolves, who prey on just smaller mammals, he tends to eat various farm and wild hoofed animals, and birds, mainly ducks, geese, chickens, swans and marine animals, as he has some of the same instincts as foxes.
His main enemies are rabbits, birds, farm and wild hoofed animals, most humans, as they are sometimes a threat to wolves. For instance, his ancestors were once mauling cavemen, that long ago. And mainly, anyone who crosses him.
Namewise, he is named after Lanny Onasis, Matt's best friend from Lizzie McGuire. He is based on Wile E. Coyote from the Looney Tunes series, as well as Slick McWolf from the MGM Tex Avery cartoons, and the Wolves from both the Make Mine Music segment, Peter and the Wolf and The Sword in the Stone from Disney.
Originally, his fur was light brown, as seen in the original teaser poster and his draft design. But due to much confusion with Wile E. Coyote and copyright infringement from Warner Bros., he had to be recoloured to gray, or to a lesser extent, silver.
Here are the examples:
Yes, that's right. Lanny used to look exactly like Wile E. Coyote. Fur, nose, ears and body. His real name is named after the creator's step-uncle.
TopherKristofferson B. Winchester, or simply Topher, is the main antagonist of this picture. Although a hunter, he is simply your modern cowboy/prospector, he does not carry a gun, or any sort of hand-held weapon, but instead sets up traps. Ever since his early 30s he has been a trapper, which explains why he has been a three-time award champene. His current job is a fur trapper, every year since the early 1970s, every Summer. The following furs he has trapped are raccoons, foxes, badgers, rabbits, tiger, you name it. Every furry animals, except for skunk, larger cats and of course, a wolf.
He is very determined to a trap a wolf, except he does not know that he has set camp in Topher's beloved birth-home.
Originally he was supposed to be 6"4, but it was then decided to make him 4"3, like a small prospector.
Namewise, he is named after Topher Grace, and one of the contestants in Total Drama: Pahkitew Island. His design and personality are loosely based on both Amos Slade from the 1981 Disney movie The Fox and the Hound, and Stinky Pete from Toy Story 2. He also bares a likeness to Ed Asner, Tom Selleck and Kris Kristofferson, of which whom his real name is named after.
The Rabbit
The Rabbit is a very minor character, as he is just an animal who giggles at Lanny whenever he has a misfortune, for instance, Lanny's tail gets caught in a fur trap.
Nevertheless, he will play a much larger role in the upcoming, future Lanny Timberwolf comic series.
He is loosely based on Thumper from the 1942 Disney movie, Bambi, the snowshoe rabbit from the 1948 MGM Barney Bear cartoon, The Bear and the Hare and the rabbit from the Tex Avery cartoon Doggone Tired of which his personality is based on.
The Boar
The boar is also a very minor character, with only seconds of screen time, as he is the first animal Lanny preys on. However, due to family friendly guidelines and procedures over at Flycheese, we've had to have his death and Lanny's meal offscreen.
Nothing else is known about him, as namewise as such, he is based on Pumbaa from The Lion King, albeit without the anthropomorphic personality, and the razorback from The Rescuers Down Under, with a much-more boar/warthog-like personality. How he gets roasted by a grenade, is actually based on a scene in the Tom and Jerry short, The Duck Doctor, where Tom accidentally aims to shoot at the pig's butt, before the pig squishes him and scurries off, when Tom needed to shoot the duck for supper.
Other than that, he is just a warthog that was just about to be blasted and eaten, before he could make his getaway.
Narrator
The narrator is just that kind of person who tells the story how it is, but he is a major character, in the book of Jordan, as at some points interacts with Lanny, during the DinoMite Blueprint scenes. Other than that, not much is known about him, either, as personality wise, Jordan based the narrator's voice on legendary American singing cowboy, Tex Ritter, father of John Ritter, who did the US voice of Clifford and 8 Simple Rules, and grandfather of Jason Ritter, best known as Dipper from Gravity Falls and Ryder from Frozen II.
Other Characters
These minor characters include, a Longneck Bird, a bird who is not to be confused with the Road Runner, due to copyright infringement from Warner Bros, but does actually share the same trait, albeit with a redesign. A young Burro, who bears a resemblance to Benny Burro, and personality from MGM cartoon, Little Gravel Voice, albeit redesigned, also. Others would include a green crab, based on the Tom and Jerry short, Salt Water Tabby, a Koobaburra, two prairie dogs, a marmot, a squirrel, a sparrow, a robin and two deer. As it is a deserted preserve, most likely due to a change of climate, not many other animals, including larger predators, and farm animals, just woodland prey creatures.

Further Info
Lanny Vs. DinoMite is the first entry in the J.T. Love Industries Experimental Universe, which in turn will become an animated pilot for the Lanny Timberwolf comic series. Two stories are in the works as of February 4, 2021. These include The Fishing Wolf, a remake of the 1940 MGM Barney Bear cartoon, The Fishing Bear, which feature the Duck, and Golfer Broke, a remake of the 1945 Tom and Jerry cartoon, Tee for Two, which will star the Rabbit, and a baby Skylark.
As for future comic strips that are in the works, with Lanny as the star attraction of the series, with the Rabbit, the Duck, Lil' Honker and Topher as the other four main characters. As Topher being a secondary type of main character, he will have less comic appearances, as the Lanny series will be to focus on the other three.
The Donkey That Brayed Coyote, another comic in the works, will be another MGM Cartoon remake of Little Gravel Voice, is more centered on the Burro, named Bruno, but is not identified by the name in the comics, due to Warner Bros. copyright. Nonetheless, as Jordan's plans are to be a retelling of some classic cartoons as comic, albeit with a different storyline, different character designs and colours, and will pay homage to these great classics.
Jordan, the director of the original short, is said to have been inspired by not only the Looney Tunes directors, Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, Bob Clampett and Frank Tashlin, as well as Tex Avery, Hugh Harman and Rudolf Ising, so both MGM and Warner Bros. cartoons from the late 30s to the early 60s, Jordan is indeed to intend to make his first official masterpiece.
Other people who are involved with this short, include Mel Russell, Jordan's older sister who is the creative consultant.
As for casting, Jordan is said to only narrate, as Lanny will be portrayed to non-verbal comedic. But that's not to say he won't get to talk in the future.
Jordan will serve as producer of the short, as well as the writer, making this, the third full length animated short, next to Fazuki's Doom of Slush and YockyWocky World, but this is his first production to be produced entirely from home. And his first 2D animated project, not to be produced entirely at Flycheese, but co-produced under its label.
Lanny is said to be based on Oggy and the Cockroaches character, Oggy, as well the Zig and Sharko character, Zig, because of their quirky schemes to get what they want. Xilam have also been a part of Jordan's life during his teenhood.
Topher is also said to be based on Sharko, also a character from that said series, because of how evil and arrogant against Zig.
Overall, with projects that take time and that cannot be rushed, we can all vouch that this will be a cool project.
Making stories travel to great destinations.
